Shooting tops Las Cruces Crime Stoppers

Las Cruces Police Department

Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect or suspects in what appears to be a drive-by shooting that occurred Friday evening and injured a 19-year-old man.

The victim received a relatively minor gunshot wound to an elbow. The injury was not life-threatening and the victim was driven to an area hospital by a family member about 90 minutes after the shooting reportedly took place.

Las Cruces Police detectives learned that on Friday evening the victim was with several other people in the parking lot of the Golden Corral restaurant, at 601 S. Telshor Blvd., well after the business had closed. The victim told police that he was among a large group of people when he heard several shots and realized he was struck on his elbow.

Police were not called out to the incident and only learned of the shooting early Saturday morning when the victim went to the hospital.

Police were told that the suspect may have been in a small blue pickup that was seen near the area.

If you have more information on this incident, or any information that can help identity of the suspect, you are asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip via text message to LCTIPS (528477).
