Apparent knife fight injures two

Las Cruces Police Department

Las Cruces police are investigating an overnight incident that resulted in stab wounds to two men.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday police were called to 330 Richard Drive where a 43-year-old man was suffering from nine stab wounds. The man was airlifted to University Medical Center of El Paso with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

A short while after officers received the initial call, a 22-year-old man arrived at Memorial Medical Center with stab wounds to his arms and a finger. His injuries also were believed to be non-life-threatening.

So far, investigators believe that some type of fight resulted in the men pulling knives on each other. It is still unclear what the fight was about or who may have instigated it.

No charges have been filed as the case is still under investigation. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call police at (575) 526-0795 or send a tip via e-mail to lcpdtips@las-cruces.org.
