Las Cruces police have arrested two men they suspect are responsible for at least four residential burglaries committed on Thursday.

Harley Ray Peña, 27, and Michael A. Hodgson, 22, are charged with four counts each of residential burglary and four counts each of conspiracy to commit residential burglary. Peña also allegedly was found to be in violation of his probation.

During the morning of Thursday, Sept. 29, Las Cruces police responded to reports of residential burglaries on the 1100 block of Turkey Knob Drive, the 3800 block of Ascension Circle, the 4500 block of Big Sky Drive and the 4400 block of Maricopa Circle.

A witness to one of the burglaries gave police a description of the suspects and told officers they were driving a maroon Pontiac Grand Am. A Las Cruces police officer spotted a vehicle matching the description and stopped it on US Highway 70.

Pena was driving the vehicle, and Hodgson was his passenger. The two were positively identified as the suspects who committed the burglaries, police said.

Las Cruces Police are continuing their investigation, and additional charges are possible.

Hodgson was booked into the Doña Ana Countyjail with bond set at $5,000. Pena was being held without bond.
