A Farmington man who moved to Las Cruces three months ago with his girlfriend was allegedly stabbed once in the arm after he refused to buy her more beer.

Doña Ana County Sheriff’s deputies were called out at 5:30 p.m. Thursday to a home in the 9500 block of Butterfield Boulevard after the alleged altercation.

Investigators say Alexa Monet Rodriguez, 22, became enraged when her boyfriend would not buy her another 40-ounce bottle of beer.

An argument escalated, at which point Rodriguez allegedly threw a 3-pound hand weight at the victim with such force that it became lodged in the wall. The victim told investigators Rodriguez then grabbed a TV tray, striking him once in the back and then a chair, with which she also allegedly struck the victim.

The incident ended after Rodriguez allegedly grabbed a 14-inch stainless steel knife and chased him around the house, stabbing him once in the arm. Rodriguez then threw the knife at the victim and fled the scene, but was later apprehended, deputies said.

Rodriguez was arrested on one count of aggravated battery against a household member with a deadly weapon, one count of aggravated assault against a household member with a deadly weapon, and two counts of battery against a household member. Magistrate Judge Richard Silva set Rodriguez’s bond at $15,000 cash.

The victim was taken by ambulance to an area hospital to be treated for non life-threatening injuries.
