New Mexico Gov. Susana Martines arrived Sunday afternoon in Chihuahua City to meet with Chihuahua Gov. César Duarte Jáquez, according to a news release.

Though not mentioned in the news release or media accounts of the visit, Martinez’s husband, Chuck Franco, is shown in photographs released Sunday by the Mexican governor’s office.

Martinez is to attend a special session of the state Legislature on Monday in the town of Cuchillo Parado to commemorate the beginning of the Mexican Revolution.

She also will be present for the unveiling of a bust and plaque in honor of her great-grandfather, the esteemed Toribio Ortega. He was one of the initiators of the Mexican Revolution and is credited with firing the first shot in the revolt, according to Duarte’s news release as well as reports in most Chihuahua and Juárez news media and other sources.

Duarte greeted Martinez at Roberto Fierro International Airport. After a private meeting, Duarte gave Martinez a tour of the government palace and other historical places.

Duarte was accompanied by his wife, Bertha Gómez de Duarte.
