Every day, hundreds of Juárez children and adolescents swarm the ice-skating rink set up for the second year by the city at Benito Juárez Civic Plaza, according to a city news release.
The rink will remain in place through Jan. 27.
Although the rink is busy during the week, it gets about twice as many skaters on the weekends. The city noted its popularity with college students, but said most of the users are school-age children.
There is an ambulance on standby at the side of the rink, but so far there have been no serious accidents, the city said.
Skate rental and admission to the rink are free. The city is looking for sponsors to pay for next year’s skating.
